Spiritual direction is a ministry of prayerful, contemplative listening offered to another within a confidential one-on-one or a small group setting.
This ministry is especially helpful for people who are seeking the following:
Our Spiritual Director, Tamara Moore, is a Catholic laywoman in good standing with the Church. She is married with four children, has earned a Master’s degree in Theology (2005), a Graduate Certificate in Spiritual Direction (2015), and has been offering spiritual direction for seven years.
Spiritual direction with Tamara is different from other helping ministries such as counseling, life-coaching/mentoring, or teaching. In spiritual direction the sole purpose is to grow in relationship with God while the Holy Spirit guides us in God’s wisdom. The person coming to spiritual direction, the directee, shares about her/his life experiences and in doing so reflects upon God’s presence through it all. Together we discern how the Holy Spirit is calling the directee to respond to God’s grace and abundant love.
All spiritual direction is confidential and respectful of safe and sacred boundaries. Individual spiritual direction sessions are paced about one month apart for an hour at a time and take place at St. Philip’s Catholic Church. For group spiritual direction, individuals rotate through direction each month while the group listens silently and prays for the person receiving direction. The directee or group coordinator will schedule an appointment and pay a $50 fee in return for the time offered by the director.
