St. Philip's School Principal
The Principal is the visible leader of St. Philip’s Catholic School, much as the Pastor is the visible leader of the Parish. The Principal is responsible for the day to day operation of the school as well as creating and executing the long term goals of the school. The Principal leads the staff and faculty in educating students in a Catholic environment, preparing them for life and education beyond elementary and middle school.
As a Catholic School, we are here to form students to be virtuous disciples of Christ with eternal salvation as the ultimate goal. Our Principal is an essential part of this mission and is expected to conduct him or herself in a manner consistent with Catholic teachings and the mission of the Church. All of our employees have an obligation to demonstrate, through their words and actions, ethics and integrity consistent with the faith, morals, and laws of the Church and must not bring rise to embarrassment or scandal.
Main Duties
Manage school activities and staff, including hiring teachers and support personnel
Establish and oversee class schedules
Develop, implement, and maintain curriculum standards
Counsel and discipline students
Observe teachers, evaluate their performance, assign tasks
Meet with parents and teachers to discuss students’ progress and behavior
Assess and prepare reports on test scores and other student achievement data
Organize professional development programs and workshops for staff
Assist with school finance budget and track expenditures
Support and enforce security procedures for students, staff, and visitors
Complete all required state, diocesan, and public school district reports
Collaborate and maintain positive working relationships the Pastor, parish staff, public schools, parish, diocese, and other groups as necessary for optimum student results
Qualifications
A practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church
Must be a credible witness of the Catholic Faith
Commitment to Catholic Schools and their mission
Masters Degree in education, leadership, or equivalent, or in progress (preferred)
Minimum of five years teaching and/or administration in Catholic schools (preferred)
Competencies
Able to promote a Catholic culture with the school faculty, staff, and students
Able to establish and sustain a high caliber learning environment for students and faculty
Must have strong leadership skills and strategic thinking to ensure continued success of the school and its mission
Must be an effective communicator through written word and oral language, with students, teachers, and parents, creating positive working relationships
Must be able to analyze problems and find appropriate solutions
Ability to collaborate and work with individuals and teams
Wage and Benefits
Full-time exempt. Will require evening and weekend work

Starting salary range: $65,000-$85,000, dependent on education and experience

Provide a quality Christian education in a safe and nurturing environment. Teach children basic skills such as identifying colors, shapes, numbers, and letters. Work with children in groups or one on one, depending on the needs of children and the subject matter. Plan and carry out a curriculum that focuses on different areas of child development and that encompasses our catholic faith.
Our mission is to provide a nurturing, child-initiated play-based environment that fosters self-confidence, trust, creativity, and a quality Catholic and academic education. The staff establishes positive personal interaction, nurturing each child's growth and education to prepare them to succeed in our diverse and changing world.
Main Duties
Establish and enforce rules of behavior for children in their classrooms
Incorporate the sanctity of faith, family and community
Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children, helping them reach developmental milestones
Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents
Manage classroom activities including lessons, play, breaks, and meals
Track children’s progress and report to parents
Maintain a clean and tidy classroom
Provide appropriate supervision for children at all times
Encourage children to interact with each other to develop social skills
Administer basic first aid when necessary and adhere to health/safety and sanitation procedures
Prepare and serve meals and snacks to the children
Qualifications
A background check and Safe Environment Certification are prerequisites for employment
A Christian commitment to help each child grow spiritually.
One of, or a combination of, the following:
Minimum of one year as a licensed family child care provider
Coursework in Early Childhood, Kindergarten, or K-6th grade teaching curriculum
Preference will be given for a Degree in Education and for a Teaching License
Strong written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills
Patience, adaptability and a positive attitude
Able to work with children of various ages
