Regulations Concerning Grave Decorations at Holy Cross Cemetery:
Cemetery personnel are not responsible for decorations placed on gravesites.
Artificial wreathes may be placed on grave sites during the winter months (Oct 15 to May 1), if erected on a secure stand or easel.
It is permissible to place cut flowers on a gravesite provided they are on a grave marker in a container that is not easily blown over or broken. Fresh flowers placed on graves will be removed when wilted.
Potted or boxed plants on gravesites must be stable enough for outdoor use and be placed on the grave marker. They shall not be placed around the marker. When wilted, they will be removed and destroyed by cemetery employees.
Shepherd hooks may be installed by drilling them into the concrete border of the marker so as not to interfere with the mowing of the grass.
Planting trees, shrubs, bushes, flowers and cutting, watering or fertilizing of any grave area may be done only with the permission of cemetery employees.
Items placed on graves to mark a birthday or anniversary need to be removed within 10 days after placement. This allows staff to keep the grounds mowed and tended to.
Decorations may be placed on gravesites 3 days prior to Memorial Day and then removed within 10 days after Memorial Day.
Decorations placed outside this time frame will be removed by cemetery personnel to allow for the proper maintenance of cemetery grounds.needs and wishes.
